Hassle Free Lead Acid Battery Recycling and Disposal
BD Batteries is dedicated to the protection of the environment. Therefore, we strive to aid in the clean, safe, energy efficient, and simple recycling and disposal of spent lead acid batteries. If you have spent lead acid batteries, please just bring them in. We will recycle them for you free of charge. Help us keep lead out of the soil in backyards, empty lots, dumps, streams, public lands, and other places our kids have been known to play.
Lead acid batteries are filled with both lead and sulphuric acid. These two items are both hazardous.
Sulphuric acid is corrosive; acid can eat through clothes, carpets, and concrete. This is not something to take lightly if you choose to leave no trace, you should make the conscious decision to recycle your spent batteries. Batteries left to deteriorate leach these hazardous materials into the surrounding soils, leaving a toxic, hazardous, and hard to clean up mess.
Lead may cause a range of health effects, from behavioral problems and learning disabilities, to seizures and death. Children 6 years old and under are most at risk, because their bodies are growing quickly.
Research suggests that the primary sources of lead exposure for most children are:
- deteriorating lead-based paint
- lead contaminated dust
- lead contaminated residential soil
